This week an unexpected injury shook not only the Steelers defense, but the entire team as a whole. Defensive captain Cam Heyward announced he will be out for the rest of the season due to a pectoral injury.
If the Steeler's defense didn't already suck... It sucks even more now.

The Steelers struggled against the run game the two weeks that Heyward was out due to a hamstring injury, and I can only imagine what it will look like now. Not only is Heyward a huge part of the defense, but an overall leader. Without veterans James Harrison, Lawrence Timmons and William Gay, the average age of the defense is only 25 years old. While Cam is a part of the younger generation, he has been a mentor for theses players and always preached the "next man up" mentality. He needs to preach it now, more than ever.
I don't like to jump to conclusions but I can't see this season going any farther than one round into the playoffs. Unfortunately the Steelers did not have a Super Bowl contending defense to start with this season, and now the chances are even more slim. Do you think the offense could carry the Steelers throughout the post season?
This is a big loss for the Steelers. Hopefully they can continue to win without him.
ReplyDeleteI hope he will recover quickly
ReplyDeleteIts going to be tough for the Steelers not having Heyward for the remainder of the season
