Another day, another embarassing Steeler loss

Just when you think the Pittsburgh Steelers got their 'one embarrassing loss to a sub-par team' out of the way... they do it again.  This time it was against a struggling Miami offensive line and a sleeper fantasy player that ran 204 yards against what should be the one of the top 5 rush defenses in the league.  Once again the Steelers were embarassed on the road and now with an injured Ben Roethlisberger.  So who is to blame?

The offensive line and the coaching staff.  Football is a game of blocking, when it comes down to it all.  If you can't block, you don't make any progress, and we certainly saw that on Sunday.  Ben was under pressure most of the game, leading to a knee injury that could sideline him up to 6 weeks.  But without Ben, the leagues best running back Le'Veon Bell should have got the job done right?  Not neccesarily.

Bell only had 16 touches, with 10 being running plays.  At the same time, skills and blocking can only go so far, and the Steelers do have skill.  However, Mike Tomlin is 19-22 against teams under .500, a starling fact considering the team is a strong Super Bowl contender.  The play calls and attitude of this team start from the top, and right now it is not looking pretty.  Tomlin seems to overlook these under-achieving teams while hyping up division rivalries a little too much, and that needs to change if he wants to see his 3rd trip to the Super Bowl.

Landry Jones and the Steelers take on New England next week at home.. an AFC championship preview that also does not look favorable for the team.

  1. I am a Lions fan. Rarely I see a good game being played by my team. The one good game of the year usually comes on Thanksgiving against Green Bay Packers. Being the loyal fan I am, I got to stick with my home town team.

  2. I knew they would find a way to lose. The steelers always seem to play poor against bad teams. That should of been easy win.
